Camberwell

Overview

Home cinema system with Rako lighting control in spacious two-floor flat in Camberwell.

Brief

Our clients were upgrading their flat and wanted a new home entertainment system installed with scened lighting control - they wanted to make sure it had all the right elements to appeal to urban professionals for when they came to sell it.

The hub of the flat centred around a large living space - an all-in-one lounge / kitchen with a balcony up to the second floor. The TV was to be the new focal point of the room and they wanted to be able to watch Sky TV, HD DVDs, listen to music from CDs and ipods and to have all the cables and source equipment hidden out of site.

They also wanted to be able to control both the home cinema system and lighting from a single remote control.

Budget

Approx £7,000 - £11,000*

Solution

Because the living space was so large, a 50” plasma screen was an ideal size for the space and because watching movies and listening to music were equally important to them, they opted for satellite speakers which we installed in the far corners of the room. They were positioned to face into the centre of the seating arrangment directing the sound at the audience. A high definition (HD) up-scaling AV and HD DVD player were installed so that they could watch most programmed in as near HD quality as possible. All cabling was chased into the walls and/or hidden behind the cavity ceiling and their source equipment was remote located out of site in a cabinet beneath the screen.

Rako lighting control was added to their ceiling chandeliers, side lights, floor standing lamps and kitchen under-cabinet lighting and the scene control programmed into their single remote control.
